The Dreamer by Laolu
Under the name The Dreamer, a new creative project is born in which international artists like Láolú express their imagination and their way of seeing and understanding the world in creations in limited edition handcrafted in porcelain.
A new space where a head and a bust are the support for the artists' creativity and a metaphor of the universe that lives in each of us.
The Dreamer by Láolú, a meeting point between cultures and a creative expression where there are no rules or limits. Inspired by Yoruba body painting rituals, Láolú draws traditional African motifs with charcoal, ink, and paint on all kinds of objects, from buildings and cars to paper, wood, and the skin of models. And now, also on porcelain.
"When I met Lladró, I was impressed by the different cultures I saw represented in their universe", explains Láolú. "It's the first time I've worked with porcelain. It has a shine and luster when exposed to light that doesn't appear in any other type of ceramic, and it's beautiful; something so striking and genuine. The elegance it gives off is something that cries out for art, for visions of different expressions."
Handmade Process
Color is applied by hand by the team of experts in charge of painting each one of the pieces. In this case, the chosen colors are black and touches of golden luster, applied on the white porcelain. The combination of the colors and the patterns creates complex designs full of history. Láolú reinterprets ancestral techniques, exploring new creative paths to keep ancient traditions alive.
Láolú' s creative process is a spiritually guided exercise that seeks to elevate consciousness as much as it seeks to create a work of art.
